Indonesian Food Production Challenges: Climate, Land and Industrialization

چکیده
The increase in agricultural production has become a global issue related to food security. Indonesia faces challenges fulfilling its needs. Climate change, land conversion, and industrialization play role crop production. This study aims examine the short-term long-term effects of climate on index. analysis method used is Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL). ARDL was chosen because it can explain as well at each lag time. results showed that there positive significant cointegration or influence between rainfall, per capita energy consumption, area, forest area There also negative effect air temperature, industrialization, population density In short term, previous year's production, rainfall two three years ago, current industrial share, one ago conclusion findings this are different times for variables

CLIMATE CHANGE AND FOOD PRODUCTION by Tim Curtin (Australia) CLIMATE CHANGE AND FOOD PRODUCTION
The availability of atmospheric carbon dioxide is the sine qua non for all plant growth and thence for all marine and terrestrial life forms. The purpose of this paper is to show that proposed reductions in anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) to below the level of observed annual incremental biospheric absorption of those emissions would reduce the growth of the basic feedstock of a...
متن کاملClimate challenges, vulnerabilities, and food security.
This paper identifies rare climate challenges in the long-term history of seven areas, three in the subpolar North Atlantic Islands and four in the arid-to-semiarid deserts of the US Southwest. For each case, the vulnerability to food shortage before the climate challenge is quantified based on eight variables encompassing both environmental and social domains. These data are used to evaluate t...
متن کاملIndustrialization, Urbanization, and Land Use in China
Rapid industrial development and urbanization transfer more and more land away from agricultural production, threatening China’s capability to feed itself. This paper analyzes the determinants of land use by modeling arable land and sown area separately. An inverse U-shaped relationship between land use intensity and industrialization is explored both theoretically and empirically. The findings...
متن کاملLand as a constraint on food production.
The purpose of this paper is to consider the extent to which the area and quality of land limit the level of food production in the UK. As the population and its disposable income have increased so has the land area devoted to non-agricultural activities. In addition, the area of tree planting has been enlarged to replace the depleted reserves of forest. Simultaneously a great deal of research,...
